Gran Canaria has been traditionally renowned as a privileged destination for wellness and health improvement. Evidence of this was given by the first tourists who visited the island with such motivation and found in Gran Canaria a place where to recover from their ailments.

Over the years, Gran Canaria not only has profited from its natural riches in the field of health and wellness – such as its iodized seawater rich in mineral salts, the mild and constant temperature it enjoys throughout the year, and the extraordinary properties of the true Canarian Aloe Vera -, but has also promoted this type of tourism devoted to relaxation and personal care through constant improvement and the gradual development of the necessary tourist services and infrastructure to turn the island into a European exponent of health and wellness services.

For all of the above, the Gran Canaria Tourist Board, Federación de Empresarios de Hostelería y Turismo de Las Palmas, and entrepreneurs from the medical and tourist sectors thus began an ambitious project in 2004:Gran Canaria Spa, Wellness & Health. Public and private initiative thus joined efforts to market and promote Gran Canaria as health and wellness destination through a single organization that represents each and every associated centre.

Under the same trademark, Gran Canaria Spa, Wellness & Health gathers the best centres belonging to two large areas: the Wellness area - comprising thirteen spa and talassotherapy centres integrated to first-class hotel establishments and one talassotherapy centre -, and the Medical area – made up of three large groups from the fields of medicine and health of renown within the Canary Islands.

With the aim of bringing more awareness on this product by means of the latest information technology and thus continue with the line of progress of our association, we now launch GranCanariaWellness.com, a website rich in information that represents a big step towards the improvement and consolidation of Gran Canaria as health and wellness destination at international level, and a magnificent tool to market the services of our associated centres and allow those accessing the site to discover and enjoy a world of sensations.
